Miami's Water Is 3× Harder Than the National Average. Your Home Is Dissolving From the Inside.

The Biscayne Aquifer delivers 150–200 mg/L of dissolved limestone into every tap in Miami-Dade — enough to cut a tankless water heater's lifespan in half and cost the average household $18,000 over 20 years.

The Miami Water Problem — By the Numbers

What 18 Grains Per Gallon Actually Costs You

Most homeowners never connect the white crust on their shower glass to the service call on their dishwasher to the early failure of their water heater. They're the same problem.

Case #01

A $14,000 Navien Tankless Heater. Dead at 18 Months.

The Restrepo family installed a premium Navien NPE-240A in their Pinecrest home during a full kitchen and bath renovation. By month 14, water pressure had dropped 40%. At month 18, scale had calcified the heat exchanger entirely. The manufacturer's warranty was voided — hard water above 7 GPG disqualifies coverage.

Hair & Color Salon

Case #02

A South Beach Salon Cutting Product Spend by 40%.

Lumière Salon on Collins Avenue was going through 3× the recommended volume of color developer and toner every month. Color results were inconsistent — reds turned brassy in weeks, blondes went green. Owner Isabela Monteiro suspected product quality. A Soften water test showed 15.8 GPG at the shampoo bowls. Hard water minerals were binding to every strand before color chemistry touched it.

Case #03

Scale Was Killing Royal Palms on a $3.2M Estate.

The irrigation system at a 1.4-acre Coconut Grove estate was delivering 16+ GPG water to the landscape twice daily. Calcium carbonate was accumulating in the drip lines, reducing flow by 60% in the outer zones. The royal palms — irreplaceable specimens at $8,000–$12,000 each — showed classic mineral toxicity: brown frond tips, stunted new growth. The property manager had already replaced two drip zones. The trees were next.

"The arborist told us to replace the palms. Soften fixed the water. The palms recovered on their own."

The Soften Method

Test First. Install Second.

We don't quote systems over the phone. Every engagement starts with a free on-site water test — because Brickell municipal and a Pinecrest well are different problems.

Technician performing water hardness test with professional testing equipment
01

Water Test

We arrive with a calibrated TDS meter and hardness test kit. Results in 8 minutes — exact GPG, iron content, pH. You see the data before we say a word about equipment.

02

System Sizing

Grain capacity is calculated against your household size, water usage, and inlet hardness. No overselling. A 3-bedroom home in Coral Gables does not need a commercial twin-tank.

03

Clean Install

Our truck carries the full system. Install takes 3–4 hours. We tap in before the water heater, set the regeneration schedule to your household's peak usage window, and pressure-test every joint.

Salt & Service

We return quarterly to swap salt, verify grain counts, and check regeneration cycles. If hardness creeps up, we recalibrate. You never touch the system.

Common Questions

What Miami Homeowners Ask Before They Test

Water treatment is full of jargon. These are straight answers.

Mon–Sat 7am–6pm · Miami-Dade

How hard is my specific neighborhood's water?+
Miami-Dade water hardness varies by zone and distribution plant. Areas served by the Hialeah plant typically run 8–11 GPG; zones fed by Alexander Orr Jr. can reach 14–18 GPG after lime treatment partially settles out. The only accurate reading is an on-site test — which we do free.
Will a water softener void my appliance warranties?+
The opposite. Hard water above 7 GPG already voids most major appliance warranties (Navien, Rinnai, Bosch, Miele all specify this in their terms). Installing a properly sized softener and keeping your outlet hardness below 1 GPG protects warranty coverage and extends service life by 30–50%.
Is softened water safe to drink?+
Yes, with one nuance. The ion-exchange process replaces calcium and magnesium with a small amount of sodium — roughly 35–75mg per liter depending on inlet hardness. This is well below FDA drinking water limits. If sodium is a health concern, we install a bypass line to your kitchen cold tap or add a reverse osmosis point-of-use filter.
How often does the system need salt?+
A typical 3-bedroom Miami home consumes 8–12 lbs of salt per regeneration cycle, cycling every 3–7 days depending on usage. We include quarterly salt service in our maintenance plans — you never have to think about it.
What about the sodium added to the water — is that a problem for my plants?+
For interior plumbing and landscape irrigation, we typically install a dedicated bypass valve on outdoor hose bibs and irrigation supply lines. Your landscaping stays on untreated water; your interior fixtures get soft water. Royal palms and salt-sensitive plants are protected.
Do you service condos and HOA properties?+
Yes. We work with condo boards and property managers throughout Brickell, Edgewater, and Midtown. For multi-unit buildings, we typically install at the building main before the distribution manifold, treating all units simultaneously. We provide documentation for HOA approval processes.
